MADISON, CT - Kids’ Scholarship Fund (KSF), an independent Connecticut nonprofit, is pleased to announce that it has received a community grant from Groton Utilities. “We are so grateful for the support as our organization expands scholarship eligibility to children and families of New London County,” said Nicole Talmadge, executive director, KSF.

“The generous grant will empower low-income families to choose a private K-8 school that best fits the abilities and learning needs of their children, ultimately giving them hope for a brighter future through education,” added Talmadge.

“We were delighted to discover that funds through the Kids’ Scholarship Fund were available to institutions in our part of the state,” said Kelli Hammond, principal, Sacred Heart School in Groton, Connecticut. “These scholarships make a tremendous difference to families within our school community, giving them the freedom to make the best possible choices for their children's education. We are deeply grateful to Groton Utilities, in particular, for their generous support.”

“Because of the support of Kids’ Scholarship Fund, we are able to choose a school that aligns with our values and supports our child’s spiritual and intellectual growth,” explains Jennifer Blanco, parent at Sacred Heart School. “We are deeply grateful for KSF’s commitment to giving families like ours the opportunity to provide our children with the education they deserve, regardless of financial challenges. This scholarship award has not only eased the financial burden, but it has also given our child the chance to thrive in a community that nurtures her potential.”

“Thanks to the exceptional generosity of community-focused organizations like Groton Utilities and our faithful donors, we have been able to expand our program statewide while continuing to offer matching scholarships of up to $2,100 annually – or roughly half the tuition at a typical Connecticut parochial school – to children of financially struggling but highly motivated parents who sacrifice much for their children,” said Lew Andrews, founder, president, and chair, KSF.

“With the help of my scholarship, I was able to attend a private school and receive the best education possible,” said Sophia, a past KSF scholar who is now enrolled in high school. “My parents have many dreams for the future and they work very hard to provide for me and my sisters."
